Program Description

The purpose of this one-day program with a hands-on workshop component is to assist novice and expert nurse educators and leaders to better understand the scholarly publication process.  Experts that have been published will guide the learner by providing insight into the enterprise of scholarly publication, the mechanics of developing a publishable manuscript, and providing an individual critique of their writing style. This workshop will provide nurse educators and leaders with the skills needed to begin or enhance a career in scholarly publications. The participants are encouraged to bring with them a sample of one of their recent scholarly writings (limited to 5 – 7 pages or 5-7 pages of a larger manuscript will be critiqued), if possible, and the piece will be critiqued with suggestions for improvement and enhancement provided to the learner before they leave for the day. The participants will have the option of resubmitting (within two weeks) the same piece electronically after the program to have a second critique done (within six weeks of receipt) to highlight improvements and changes from the first submission.

Program Description:

The 11th Annual Drexel University Physician Assistant Board Review Course will be offered April 15-18, 2010 in the heart of Philadelphia. The Board Review Course venue will be the Sheraton City Center Hotel in Philadelphia, PA.   The hotel offers lodging, dining, easy access to transportation and is walking distance to major area attractions.

The Board Review Course will be focused on topics included the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants content blueprint and geared towards the Physician Assistant National Recertification Examination. Program features include study skills presentation, practice exam, and presentations from local and nationally known speakers.  26 hours of Category 1 CME have been applied for from the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

This program is not yet approved for CME credit. Conference organizers plan to request 26 hours of AAPA Category 1 CME credit from the Physician Assistant Review Panel. Total number of credits yet to be determined.
